What is the most annoying stereotype people say about the country or place where you're from?

Rednecks. It annoys me to no end when people say southerners are all "rednecks". Firstly, Redneck was a term which came about quite honestly from folks who worked hard all day in the fields to earn their living. Hardworking people who had a persistent sunburn to show for their backbreaking efforts to put food on the table.

Now I realize that the term has a new meaning now. Uneducated, ignorant, lazy, lawbreaking, and a series of other derogatory words could describe the modern day interpretation. However, I've yet to see a single place in our country which did not have their own population of such members of society.

I live in an area of the south known for its technology and contributions to the space program. Engineers and scientists abound. Our educational system tops the charts across the board and we are far from a redneck area.

Sorry for another rant, if you read my previous post you will see I am merely taking my frustrations from Apple out upon other areas ~smiles sweetly~
