    Well, bet that got your attention. Get ready for disappointment. I fantasize about a quiet room lit by natural light, with a comfy chair, a stack of plain hankies, and all the embroidery thread I can stand. I LOVE to embroider. A few years back I embroidered my first hankie and that was all she wrote. I don't ever use a pattern. I just pick up a hankie, choose some colors that look good to me at the time, and start going. Sometimes I begin by embroidering the edges with a straight line or alternating lines. Usually, I will add flowers of some color or design and I end with a monogram of someone. Although I do give a lot of hankies as gifts, I never give away my first. Instead, if I come up with a design I particularly like, I'll duplicate it and give that one away.
   I started putting initials on my first editions though. More often than not you'll see a "J" or "K" on these. I've set these aside to give to my mother or daughter one of these days, perhaps if they outlive me they will find them in my little sewing box and smile a bit - maybe think I wasn't that bad after all. :)
